Name and email address (provided during registration or via Google Sign-In)
Profile picture (if signing in via Google)
Password (stored as a secure one-way hash — we never store plain-text passwords)

b) Financial Data You Enter

Asset details: type, name, quantity, purchase price, current value
Family member names and their associated portfolios
FIRE planner inputs: target corpus, expenses, retirement age, SIP amounts

c) Technical Information

Session tokens (stored in encrypted HTTP-only cookies)
App preferences such as theme (light/dark mode) and privacy mode setting

We do not collect banking credentials, OTPs, or link to any bank account. All financial data is entered manually by you.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and manage your account
Provide and operate the wealth tracking service
Display your portfolio, net worth calculations, and financial projections
Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
Maintain app preferences across devices
Improve and secure the application

We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the service to you.

4. Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google as permitted by your Google account settings. We do not receive access to your Google Drive, Gmail, contacts, or any other Google service. The information received from Google is used solely to create and identify your account on Indian Wealth Tracker.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (neon.tech), with servers located in the Asia Pacific (Singapore) region. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit
Encrypted HTTP-only session cookies
Bcrypt password hashing with a cost factor of 12
Password reset tokens that expire after 1 hour

While we take security seriously, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any third party. We share data only with the following service providers strictly necessary to operate the service:

Neon — database hosting
Vercel — application hosting and deployment
Resend — transactional email delivery (e.g., password reset)
Google — optional OAuth authentication

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy and processes data only as needed to provide their service to us.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data and financial records will be permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. Password reset tokens are automatically deleted after use or after their 1-hour expiry.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Rectification — correct inaccurate data in your account settings
Deletion — delete your account and all associated data at any time
Portability — export your asset data via CSV at any time
Withdraw consent — disconnect Google Sign-In from your account settings

9. Cookies

We use a single encrypted HTTP-only session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

Indian Wealth Tracker is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
